Here we have an interesting article discussing the connection between the damage to a small section of the brain and addiction to tobacco. A man in this article damaged his insula as the result of a stroke, and consequently has lost all desire to smoke cigarettes.

That's pretty interesting. Despite all the crap they throw at us (meaning page after page of notes...and I mean thousands of pages), there are still many things that are unkown about the human body. The insula is a lobe of the brain that is deep to the rest (it is insulated, hence the name, the insular lobe).
