Something Weird

According to this article, the couple above conceived, and the woman gave birth to these two twins. Both father and mother are of mixed race; however, one of their children is clearly black and one of their children is clearly white (even blond hair blue eyes). I am no master geneticist, so I am not entirely sure how this works, but it is safe to say that this is a really freak occurrence. The article lists the chances as a million to one, but its discussion of the science behind this was fairly generic.

Also, the mother is 19 and the husband is 17 and they are not married.

These folks are young, and weren't expecting a family, so I guess she just got knocked up. Black men with white women, way too common for my taste.

A. Nice job for the 17 y/o guy to snag a 19 y/o girl.

B. At least they didnt pop out an all black kid

Those comments are awful. I think Coley put this article up to examine the miracle of genetic and not the miracle of ignorance.

The last statement should say father instead of husband, especially since they aren't married.

I agree that these comments are awful. Could we step into the 21st century please? It's incredibly pointless to discriminate based on the color of one's skin - especially since white people turn so many different colors depending on their emotion [ie anger, sickness, etc] Although I do believe [God forbid] that the twin who is of lighter complexion will be more accepted considering her parents are considered nearer to her complexion

this may be a freak occurrence, may be "something weird," but i think what people are forgetting is how truly amazing this is. it shows how many possibilities there are in the world. that there is always hope for the impossible. :)
